New Developer Tools For Control - Coming Soon

(Mod Note: This original post is now out of date - please see this comment for the latest information! Additionally, this post has been moved from the Smart Home API category since we've removed that form category for now, this is specifically not SoundTouch API-focused.)
Hi all! Alongside the announcement of our new product line today, we're sharing a bit of our plans around the upcoming Bose Smart Home API that will come along with that new line of products. Check out the blog post for all the details. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away here in this thread and we'll answer where we can!

We are actually 6 months after announcements and supported devices are available widely on the market.
Any updates?
Apologies for my delay in getting back to this thread! A couple comments:
1) The link to the blog post was indeed broken, but it should be fixed now
2) I don't have any specific updates to share on API availability other than we're still working on it! This forum category is definitely the place to stay tuned for when we do have updates we can share.
Will the API be available for the soundbar 700?
ps. Do you guys have a sneak preview perhaps?
The API will indeed be available for the Soundbar 700 once it is released! No details I can share around a sneak preview at this time though. Stay tuned!
http://{ip-address}:8090/info. You will get some information from the device, at least I got it. The info in json format, not XML as in the Soundtouch series.
We recognize that it's been a year (exactly, as of today!) since we announced the API and that lots of you are interested -- believe me when I say we want to get something into your hands as soon as possible! However, since the initial release will be a cloud-based API, there's a lot of things that we need to build out, and we want to make sure we get it right so that you have a great experience from the get-go.
Continue to stay tuned to this thread, as well as sign up for our Smart Home API mailing list if you haven't already - these will be the places we'll be making announcements about the API's availability when the time comes.
I plan on integrating my soundbar 700 with homekit. So I can turn it on/off or change the volume using siri. Additionally I'd like to be able to switch to TV input without having to use the remote.
Will the initial release be cloud-based only, or will there be support for connecting to devices on the local network as well?
Keep up the good work!
Any updates so far?
thanks!
Hi everyone,
Apologies for my delay in getting back to you all - I do have an update to share today on the Smart Home API.
When we announced our new line of smart speakers and soundbars in August of 2018, we believed we would be ready to share an initial developer preview of the Smart Home API that we intended to control these products by the end of 2019.
Unfortunately, that work is taking a bit longer to complete than anticipated, and we won't be ready to share anything before 2020.
With that said, part of the reason for the delay is that we are planning to expand on our initial vision of this API – so much so that when it does arrive, it won't even be called the Smart Home API anymore! We're still working on the new name, which we're looking forward to sharing with you – along with the updated vision for where we see this platform going – early next year.
You can expect another update from us in the first quarter of 2020. We greatly appreciate your patience as we continue to finalize things.
Talk to you next year!

That sucks. Well we don't know what it will look like but thought I would share the following.
I have a ST20 (Bedroom Table) that I want to always auto pair with a ST10 (Bathroom), Bose don't have functionality so I poll the bedside unit every 4seconds to see if audio is playing then pair with the bathroom one if it is. That is 21600 API calls a day, well in excess of most fair usage policies.
do you have any news (good or bad ones) about the API? It's almost the end of the Q1 2020
We did in fact send out an update at the end of February, albeit it only went to our email list (you can sign up for that list to get any future email-only announcements here: https://developer.bose.com/control-coming-soon). That email included a link to apply for access to our upcoming limited developer preview.
Unfortunately that application has closed (for anyone reading this who did apply, we're still in the process of selecting participants now, so you won't have heard anything from us yet!), but the good news is that we are very close to that limited preview milestone, which based on our current plan is the last step before we'll be able to make the API more broadly available.
I don't have a timeline I can share yet for that broader availability (as it is at least partially dependent upon the feedback we receive in the limited preview), but we are progressing into the home stretch!
Thanks,
Zach
Please pull yourself together, this is Bose not a noname company in China!
I would much rather have an api that works well rather than a half baked version of it. Even if it means we have to wait a little longer.
any news regarding the API? now half of 2020 is nearly over...
Any news ?
